The festival's other engagements

Since 1989 Göteborg International Film Festival publishes Filmkonst, which appears 6 times a year. Filmkonst is Sweden's most innovative film publication; it can be anything from a pocket book, a DVD, a comic book, to a book of poetry. The content is always characterized by an inquisitive and enthusiastic love of film. Filmkonst has received a number of awards through the years, such as The Journalistic Award and the design award Excellent Swedish Design. The Filmkonst subscribers do not only get the fantastic magazine but also the festival programme two days before ticket sales starts and a lot of other great offers too.

The festival is also one of the organizers of the Bergman Week - a six-day celebration of Ingmar Bergman's art, with films, guests, seminars and tours to filming locations on Fårö island in the Baltic Sea. The Bergman Week was founded in 2004 by a group of local enthusiasts and organisations. Göteborg International Film Festival became involved in 2005 and now manages the week together with Fårö Future, Film@Gotland, and Gotland University.
