Here below you will find information about how to get to the different theatres of Göteborg International Film Festival.
DRAKEN, FOLKTEATERN AND PUSTERVIK
are situated near Järntorget, the heart of the film festival.
HAGABION. Five minutes walk from Linnégatan from Järntorget, you find Hagabion with its two screening rooms.
HANDELS AND CAPITOL. It takes 10-15 minutes to walk to any of these theatres from Järntorget. From Hagakyrkan you walk up Sprängkullsgatan to Vasagatan if you're heading for Handels. Continue to Skanstorget and Övre Husargatan if you're going to Capitol.
THE CITY LIBRARY (STADSBIBLIOTEKET)
Take tram number 3 or buses 760, 764 or 765 from Järntorget to Valand, walk along Avenyn up towards Götaplatsen.
CHALMERS. The Festivals tram (number 6) with destination Kortedala will take you from Järntorget to Chalmers in ten minutes.
AFTONSTJÄRNAN. Visiting, as well as getting to, this beautiful movie theatre is quite a Göteborg experience. On weekdays the Älvsnabben ferry leaves twice an hour from pier Rosenlund, just behind Folkets Hus, to Gamla Lindholmen. From there, a very short walk takes you to Aftonstjärnan.
As an alternative to the ferry, we also strongly recommened bus number 16, from for example the Chalmers bus stop or Domkyrkan. Get off at Sannegårdshamnen. On weekends, the bus leaves four times an hour, on weekdays even more frequently. If you're lucky, you get to travel by Sweden's longest bus!
