Through the help of GFFF the film was also screened at Imagenes del Sur Film Festival (Malmö, Sweden) 2004.

Additional information: As only Brazilian movie the film was selected for the competition of the Rotterdam International Film Festival in 2003. It won the Fipresci Award at the Fribourg Film Festival in Switzerland and at the Recife Cinema Festival in Brazil it won a total of nine awards! Among them the Gilberto Freyre Award, given to films that investigates the Brazilian cultural roots. Göteborg Film Festival Fund supported the making of a DVD version of this film in 2003.

Additional information. The film was distributed in the Netherlands through Contact Film Distribution. Because of the political and financial situation in Indonesia the distribution there did not start until in 2002 but the première of the film in Jakarta was a big event since it was the first all Indonesian film produced in several years. The film has also been screened on Australian television (SBS) and distributed in France.
